Youthful creativity, drive and enthusiasm need a place to thrive and the Student Cuts is a platform where students and young people can reach a wide audience with their films that come alive on the big screen. Student Cuts film festival is open to youth films produced independently of professional studios. This way the films can push the limits, embrace individuality, connect people and reflect uncompromising creativity as their authors come out of their local environment. These local environments are diverse and spread all over Europe wherever the festival program is adopted.

Festival aim is to create a platform for youth film makers giving them a chance to show themselves to the public and experts from the fields of film production. Jury comments and direct comparison with films from diverse environments give students a better, outsourced feedback about the quality of their films.

• Best ad: AD REM - GIRL by Bartosz Kruhlik (Poland)
• Best animation: MIRRORS by Lee Droh na Yali Herbet (Israel)
• Best fiction film: FISH by Saman Hosseinpour (Iran)
• Best experimental film: CLASSIC NIGHT by Renata Charikiopoulos (France)
• Best documentary film: JIA by Jabez Koh (Singapor)
• Best film by Media Communication students: NO PAIN, NO GAIN by Žiga Pirš (Slovenia)
• Audience award: RIDE FAST NOW by Carlosa Cova (USA)
• Audience award for Media Communication students; A WISH by Katja Bačko (Slovenia)

After the festival we had a great honor to host one of the best documentary film maker Evgeny Afineevsky. On June 3rd he projected his Oscar nominee film Winter on Fire at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. After the projection he talked about the film background and answer students' questions.
